Rishikesh is a city in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. Rishikesh is the Gateway to the Himalayas. The Char Dham Yatra (Four Shrines Sacred Journey) ideally begins from Rishikesh. Rishikesh is also known as the World Capital of Yoga.

The sacred river Ganges flows through Rishikesh. It is here that the river leaves the Shivalik Mountains in the Himalayas and flows out into the plains of northern India. Several Temple, ancient as well as new, can be found along the banks of the Ganges in Rishikesh.

Rishikesh is world famous for Rafting and Adventure. It is becoming a popular spot for White Water Rafting enthusiasts, both from India and abroad, as the Ganges offers medium to Rough Rapids rated class 3 and class 4. Recently, Bungee Jumping has also been introduced in Rishikesh. It is also a centre for hiking and backpacking.
